I believe that learning is a life-long process--one to which we should all aspire.  Accordingly, while others may sit down and watch TV after work and on the weekends, I regularly work more to stay abreast of the latest technologies, process improvement structures, and learn the latest ways to self-develop myself and others; and, more importantly, I figure out how I can apply this learning in new and fundamental ways in the real-world environment.  I believe that the education and professional certifications that I've earned in a wide variety of self-development, and the work that I've achieved, are a testament to my dedication of that belief.

IBM Artificial Intelligence Foundations Specialist
IBM via Coursera

This specialization was earned by completing 3 courses offered by IBM instructors that dealt with AI and developing chatbots.  It focused on what AI is, its applications use cases across various industries, and understanding Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Neural Networks. It provided instruction with IBM Watson AI services that enable businesses to easily employ pre-built AI smarts to their products and solutions. I learned how to create intelligent virtual assistants, how they can be leveraged in different scenarios, and have built and deployed an AI enabled chatbot on a website.

As part of the IBM Applied AI Professional specialization described above, it involved creating custom models, classifications, and deploying them to the web via an API.

Afterwards, in an effort to determine if my x-ray scans from a sickness in November 2019 that left me coughing, and with shortness of breath, somehow indicated the presence of COVID-19, I created another AI classification model to analyze such.  Based on the model, the results showed that it was likely (undiagnosed) pneumonia at 0.76, or (unlikely) COVID-19 coming in at 0.21, with the next highest classification.

I also tested my model with x-rays that weren't used to train it.  The results showed very high correlations with what was expected, as I broke the x-ray classifications down into 4 groups: 1.) Healthy lungs.  2.) Pneumonia (not COVID-19 induced pneumonia).  3.) COVID-19 (both those that resulted in pneumonia, and those without).  4.) Other lung-based sicknesses (cancer, emphysema, bronchitis, COPD, etc.).  See some examples on the left with a few samples tested, which fell into the correct buckets as expected with high correlations.

DeepLearning.AI Specialization
This specialization is taught by Professors Andrew Ng and Kian Katanforoosh, and with Teaching Assistant Younes Bensouda Mourri via Coursera.

The course content is summarized with this statement in Coursera:

"In five courses, you will learn the foundations of Deep Learning, understand how to build neural networks, and learn how to lead successful machine learning projects. You will learn about Convolutional networks, RNNs, LSTM, Adam, Dropout, BatchNorm, Xavier/He initialization, and more. You will work on case studies from healthcare, autonomous driving, sign language reading, music generation, and natural language processing. You will master not only the theory, but also see how it is applied in industry. You will practice all these ideas in Python and in TensorFlow, which we will teach. You will also hear from many top leaders in Deep Learning, who will share with you their personal stories and give you career advice. AI is transforming multiple industries. After finishing this specialization, you will likely find creative ways to apply it to your work. ... You will see and work on case studies in healthcare, autonomous driving, sign language reading, music generation, and natural language processing. You will also build near state-of-the-art deep learning models for several of these applications. In a 'Machine Learning flight simulator', you will work through case studies and gain 'industry-like experience' setting direction for an ML team. In Course 5, Sequence Models, you will have the opportunity to build a deep learning project with cutting-edge, industry-relevant content."

The Project Management Professional certification is the gold-bar standard of projects.  Aside from documenting various projects in which you've led, you have to pass a grueling 4-hour proctored test, which only has a 68 percent pass-rate (i.e., 32 percent of people who take the test fail - or roughly 1 out of 3 fail - despite that most have bachelor degrees, are reasonably intelligent, spend over $500 to take the test, and have over 30-hours of demonstrated class instruction time related to PM).  I have also taken graduate and undergraduate courses in PM, for which I received As.

Six Sigma is a methodology designed to reduce variance by improving processes.  This certification also focused on lean methodology (removing waste and non-value added activities).  ISO 9001:2008 is a quality standard, and the company ExpertRating is one of the few, if not only, certification sites for Six Sigma that meets such quality standards.  In order to diligently meet ISO's rigid standards, the course matter is created by experts, some having PhDs in their field; and the tests are difficult and timed, with some lengthy questions and about 1-minute per question provided.  ExpertRating also has LiveProctor - a measure to prevent cheating, which employs video and screen monitoring.  It requires closed book/closed Internet.  These are a few of the reasons that ExpertRating has a Fortune 500 client list, and has provided certifications for such organizations as IKEA, GE, UPS, Gap, Fox News, Convergys, various universities, etc.

Kaizen is a continuous improvement process, with the aim of such to have an organization constantly strive for efficiency and effectiveness by working in a coordinated effort with all facets of management.  (NOTE: Some people may mistakenly believe that Kaizen is a short-term methodology for achieving goals, but that is actually a Kaizen Blitz.  In fact, the term Kaizen itself is a trademarked term [by the Kaizen Institute] that essentially means "continuous improvement," and is often used in conjunction with "gemba," referring to the area of improvement or the "actual place/workplace.")

Was a licensed Realtor, and also received several certifications related to Real Estate.  These other certifications (not shown) were for Real Estate Law - Legal Update, Ethical Situations, Fair Housing, Kentucky Core Law, Agency Update, and Case Law Update.  This background proved helpful when I was investing in real estate, acquiring 21 units (single families, duplexes, town-homes, four-families, etc.), working as a landlord and dealing with all it involved (rehabbing, leasing, evicting, etc.) before growing weary of tenants and toilets and thus going on to other matters.
